Emergency Disclaimer

Limitations of our SOS and emergency features.

Overview

Trek360AI provides emergency assistance features including SOS alerts, live location sharing, and emergency contact notifications. These features are supplementary safety tools and do not replace professional emergency services.

By using Trek360AI's emergency features, you acknowledge and accept the limitations described in this disclaimer.

02

Trek360AI Is Not an Emergency Service

Trek360AI does not provide emergency response services. Our emergency features:

  • Send your GPS coordinates and an alert to your configured emergency contacts
  • Are not monitored by emergency dispatchers or rescue teams
  • Do not automatically contact local emergency services (111, 911, etc.)
  • Do not guarantee that your alert will be received or acted upon

In a life-threatening emergency, always call local emergency services first.

03

Connectivity Requirements

SOS and emergency features require:

  • An active internet connection (cellular data or Wi-Fi)
  • A device with sufficient battery
  • GPS enabled on your device

In remote areas, you may have no cellular coverage. Trek360AI's SOS features will not work without connectivity. We strongly recommend:

  • Carrying a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) or satellite communicator for backcountry travel
  • Informing someone of your route and expected return before you go
  • Not relying solely on any app-based emergency feature in remote locations
04

Location Accuracy

GPS accuracy depends on many factors:

  • Satellite visibility (reduced in canyons, dense forest, or bad weather)
  • Device hardware quality
  • Atmospheric conditions
  • Indoor or underground locations

The location shared during an SOS may not be precise. Emergency contacts and responders should treat coordinates as approximate and plan accordingly.

05

Emergency Contacts

You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your emergency contacts up to date
  • Ensuring your emergency contacts understand how Trek360AI alerts work
  • Confirming that your emergency contacts' phone numbers and emails are correct
  • Informing your emergency contacts that they may receive SOS alerts from Trek360AI

Trek360AI is not responsible for:

  • Emergency contacts who do not respond to alerts
  • Incorrect or outdated contact information
  • Delays in alert delivery due to network conditions
06

Safety Monitoring, Voice Activation & Fall Detection

Trek360AI offers optional automated safety features that supplement the SOS system:

Safety Monitoring

When enabled, Safety Monitoring uses your device's accelerometer and gyroscope to detect potential falls and prolonged inactivity. It is an opt-in assistive tool — not a medical device, not a certified fall detection system, and not a replacement for dedicated emergency hardware (PLBs, satellite communicators, avalanche transceivers).

Voice Activation

When enabled, Voice Activation listens for specific wake phrases ("Hey Atlas") followed by emergency commands ("Help me", "I fell", "Emergency"). Audio is processed locally on your device using the browser's Web Speech API. Trek360AI does not record, store, or transmit audio. Voice recognition accuracy depends on ambient noise, wind, accent, language, microphone quality, and browser support.

Fall Detection

Fall detection analyzes accelerometer and gyroscope readings to identify sudden impact patterns consistent with a fall. It may:

  • Fail to detect falls that produce unusual acceleration patterns (e.g., slow slides, rolling falls, water immersion)
  • Falsely trigger from non-emergency events (e.g., dropping the device, jumping, vigorous activity)
  • Not function on devices without the required sensors, or when the browser tab is not in the foreground

Trek Safety Reminders

Trek360AI provides contextual safety reminders before, during, and after treks to encourage users to enable Safety Monitoring and Voice Activation. These reminders are informational prompts only and can be dismissed.

Abuse Lockout

To prevent accidental or repeated false SOS triggers, the system temporarily locks SOS dispatch if more than 3 alerts are triggered within 2 minutes. The lockout lasts 5 minutes. During a lockout:

  • The SOS button is temporarily disabled
  • Direct phone calls to emergency services (111, 911, etc.) are never blocked — you can always call emergency services directly
  • The lockout resets automatically after the cooldown period

Emergency Override

In genuine emergencies, if the automated system fails or is locked out, you should always call local emergency services directly. Trek360AI's automated features are a supplementary safety layer, not your primary emergency response tool.

07

Misuse of Emergency Features

False or non-genuine SOS alerts are strictly prohibited. Misuse of emergency features:

  • Wastes resources and diverts attention from real emergencies
  • May result in immediate account suspension or permanent ban
  • May be reported to local authorities where applicable

Emergency features are for genuine emergencies only.

08

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Trek360AI shall not be liable for:

  • Failure of SOS features due to connectivity, device, or network issues
  • Delays in emergency contact notification
  • Inaccurate GPS coordinates during an emergency
  • Actions or inactions of emergency contacts or emergency services
  • Outcomes of any emergency situation
  • False positives or false negatives from Safety Monitoring, Voice Activation, or Fall Detection
  • Failure of automated safety features due to browser tab state, device sleep mode, sensor unavailability, or battery depletion
  • Temporary SOS lockouts triggered by the abuse prevention system

Trek360AI provides emergency features on an "as-is" basis. Use at your own risk.
